Alliance-hosted South-South Workshop “Cooking Technologies for Climate Impacts”
Country: Kenya
Cooking Technologies and Fuels for Climate Impacts
South-South Cooperation, Workshop Two
July 18-20, 2018
Azure Westlands Nairobi
Nairobi, Kenya
This workshop, co-hosted by the Global Alliance for Clean Cookstoves (Alliance), the Climate and Clean Air Coalition (CCAC), Government of China, UN Climate Change (UNFCCC) and Vanke Foundation, is the second in a series, following our inaugural workshop in Vienna, Austria in September 2017. It will focus on cooking technologies – mainly cookstoves and fuels – that can reduce Short-Lived Climate Pollutants and Greenhouse Gases, helping countries to meet the clean cooking commitments in their Nationally Determined Contributions. It will focus on countries in Africa and Asia.
Workshop participants will gain an understanding of evidence, and the technology solutions and the policy options that will have the greatest impact on climate. All participants will be expected to draft a plan for inclusion of technologies and fuels into the broader clean cooking work – and other related development and climate activities - already taking place in their respective countries after the conclusion of the workshop. This knowledge will also be incorporated into existing and future Clean Cooking national action plans, which will be developed over the course of the South-South workshop series.
